Welcome

My playroom's anticipation? What do I mean?

Remember the film with Woody and Sally and Buzz? How the toys eagerly waited for the children to play with them? I believe that my playroom works like that, too. "my work is child's play" is something that people quote at times, though really my work is to help families remember how to play before they felt self-conscious and time got too little. I have puppets that help kids say things that they might not utter otherwise.

I'm a clinical social worker. A mental health-behavioral health therapist for children and families. My office contains toys and a sand tray with hundrends of miniatures. I have puzzles, board games, a doctor kit, magicwand, among many others. But please don't be fooled; I also meet with adults, some in their late 80s.

In recent weeks I've had the desire to write about significant moments. I'll blog about some of those next, including the ice storm in Aprilduring full bloom ofthe apple and pear trees.

I now work for myself, without agency compensation quota demands pressing in on me. I'm thankful to be at this point in my career, where I can offer a private and comfortable family-friendly setting.
More about my set-up later.

I'll share about my philosophy of people, family, and my opinionof how family therapy works best. This is a cost-reducing, demanding time for social services, and I remain commited to the families of Kansas and play therapy is one way to help heal the hurt, literally, one family--one child--at a time.
